Swindon Open Studios Launch Their 20th Anniversary Celebrations In Style .

Updated: Sep 26

Swindon Open Studios was launched in style on Friday evening with a fabulous party for the artists, invited VIPs and sponsors. This is an annual event to celebrate the incredible creativity in Swindon, but is very special this year as they are celebrating 20 years of opening their studios to the public.

Heidi Alexander, MP for South Swindon opened proceedings with a welcoming speech and spoke warmly about the wealth of talent in the town. She also thanked the committee of volunteers for all their hard work.

David Bent, one of the original artists spoke movingly of the beginnings of SOS and his involvement in the art scene. He first showed his work in 2003, and has continued to exhibit most years ever since.

Ken White, well loved local artist and  mural painter was also present and will be opening his studio on the 28/29th. A must see!

Podpadstudios attended the event along with their K9 robot, which created quite a stir!

They will be opening on both weekends at the Carriageworks with an exhibition that includes dragons, robots and a Batmobile which will entertain the whole family.

The artists are really excited to be participating and made this a truly joyful evening.

Swindon in September is certainly the place to be for the Arts with the amazing Paintfest, Swindon Shuffle for live music and Swindon Open Studios (SOS) to end the month. There is a wealth of  talent to see in our town!

Artists will be opening their studios on the weekends of 21/22 and 28/29 September.
