Artist registration for 2025 will be open from February 1st to March 31st. Completing the registration form is relatively straightforward and shouldn’t cause any problems.
Below is a quick guide on avoiding the pitfalls and some suggestions to make the most of your listing.
Try to have all your data to hand before you start the form. In previous years it was noted that opening the form in one tab and then moving away to another tab caused the form to re-set and had to be started again, this was particularly mentioned by mobile users. Hopefully having all the data to hand might help.
Please include the full link for all social media you’d like featured i.e. https://www.instagram.com/swindonopenstudios and not @swindonopenstudios or just your name. Providing the complete link allows us to add your social media quickly without having to search for you. It also means that we don’t mistakenly add the wrong links for someone else – this has happened in the past!
Facebook: If you have an art page have you changed the name so people can find you? If not – why not? If you were presented with the link below, would you click on it or pass on by? I’d probably pass on by https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091659644097 To get a real link switch from your personal profile to your art page. Under manage page, select settings, then page set-up – you will see name on the right hand side, select the arrow taking you to another page where you can edit your name. Once saved the FB link with now reflect your real name.
Although we recommend opening from 11am to 5pm we know these hours are not for everyone so this year we have added a selection. Please select the right one for you.
Artist statement: This is your chance to sell your wares and encourage people to visit you. However, we are limited to 380 characters (that is all letters, punctuation AND spaces) for the brochure. Please try to keep below this or the text will turn red and won’t allow you to continue until it has been corrected.
Image: The image you choose is important as it’s the first thing someone sees, and yes, some people decide who to visit based on the images they see.
Make it a good, strong image to entice people to visit you.
When photographing it: try to use good lighting, try to keep your shadow out of the picture, and try to avoid reflections.
Ensure it will be on display at your SOS event as people will come looking for it!
It doesn’t have to be the whole image you send in; it can be a small section of it.
Please ensure the image file name includes your name, is square formatted and the file size is above 1MB but below 10MB. Please send it to us via email.
Why are you doing it? This is new for this year as we’re curious about why artists do SOS. It is optional and can be left blank.
Have you got a story to tell? Again, this is new for this year and optional. We are looking for stories to tell to help us to promote SOS. If you want to be involved, please provide a brief description of your story and a member of our marketing team will contact you.
Finally you will be able to select the fee to pay
When you hit the submit button you will be taken to the payment page.
Once payment has been received you will see your receipt, a copy will be emailed to you.
At the bottom of the receipt, you will the instructions for sending us your image. For some reason known only to the software it links to the website and not the email address so please ensure you copy the whole email address. I have listed it here in case it’s not clear swindonopenstudio@gmail.com
I think that covers most of the form but if after trying you don’t succeed please let us know.
